day THIRTY SEVEN

Where oh where are you tonight,
why did you leave me
here all alone?

I searched
the world over
and I thought
I'd found
true love.

You met another
and
phhhitttt!
you was
gone.

[Thank you Hee Haw!]

day THIRTY SIX

SUNDAY'S DARKNESS

The tiny boy waits
on wooden rail,
knees shift
painfully
one to the other.

Trembling hands
grasping
dangling beads
of plastic and glass,
reach out
to the one
who
forgives.

In twisted agony,
affixed by spikes,
arching against the wood,
the bloody symbol
dies again.
